MASTERPLAN PRESENTS: CRITICAL MUSIC

After the success we had in 2009, we are returning this February for another massive line up. Critical’s diversity and originality is a something we all admire and look up to at Masterplan, so what better way to start things off in 2010…

With the Drum and Bass market in a state of complete over-saturation, it takes originality, class, and an understanding of quality control to get ahead. Having emerged from relative obscurity in 2006, SpectraSoul, have emerged as one of the new-school pioneers on the drum and bass circuit. With some massive releases in 2009 on labels such as MetalHeadz, Shogun Audio, Subtitles, Exit and of course Critical, it is no wonder why SpectraSoul have got to where there are in such a short space of time. We are extremely excited to welcome them back for thier second Masterplan.

Alongside SpectraSoul the Critical Head Honcho will be down showcasing some of the signature sounds as well a preview of what we can expect over the coming year! For those that don’t know but ought to, Kasra is an integral part of and prominent figure in the UK underground scene. Using his own label, Critical, as a vehicle for musical expression Kasra has been responsible for rooting out, guiding and nurturing high quality, pioneering drum and bass. In the past five years, Kasra has created in Critical a unique identity that is respected the world over and has ultimately left an indelible mark on the drum and bass scene. He is an inspiration to us here at Masterplan and we are very much looking forward to what will no doubt ably be a HUGE set!

On top of this we have also teemed up with Bristol based duo Distilled who are responsible for the well known and respected night Torque. There aim is identical to what we look to achieve with Masterplan, showcasing the more musical side of Drum and Bass in a small and intimate venue. If you have not heard of their event it is a seriously respected night having put on some killer line ups over the last year or so and there is little sign them slowing down in 2010.

As usual we will have the Masterplan residents The Schemists and Outline alongside Debutantes Tectonic & Enigma getting things underway.
