BUGGEDOut!, Arcadia and the team behind Glastonbury’s Dance Village have joined forces for a huge new year’s extravaganza in Bristol, the festival-lover’s home-from-field.
With five venues occupying the skatepark, nightclub, night terrace, a ‘Lost Disco’ big top in the car park, and an entire disused warehouse next-door housing Arcadia’s flamboyant theatrical constructions, this stands to be one of the biggest such events the city has ever seen.
Arcadia’s critically acclaimed festival season has taken in Glade, Bestival, Ireland’s Electric Picnic and Glastonbury Festival where it hosted its own area. This new year’s eve it will fill a warehouse with its retro-futuristic scrap-yard creations. Flame-spitting Victorian lampposts and smoke-spewing metallic trees will frame performers hanging from cranes and scurrying across the rafters. Their futuristic creation – the love-child of a rocket jet and a DJ booth – the ‘Afterburner’ (which saw defining sets from Fatboy Slim at Glastonbury and Carl Cox at Bestival) will provide a soundtrack from the likes of rave legends Altern8, replete with lasers and pyrotechnic displays.
